2019 kicked off to an exciting start with an excellent turnout on the start line for the annual Treasure Hunt. As members tucked in to a hearty bowl of soup and mulled wine, we are reminded of the friendliness and camaraderie to be had at Flushing Sailing Club both on and off the water.
Flushing has always provided great racing and will continue to do so every Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoons. We look forward to greeting all for a sailing supper and drinks on Tuesdays and tea, coffee and cakes on Saturdays.
Our members are always involved in any championships organised in the Port of Falmouth including Falmouth Classics, Falmouth Sailing Week and the Gull Rock/Manacles race which includes the COGs race.
In 2018 the Club was invited to organise and run the Ancasta IRC Spinlock South West Championships, this was a very successful event.
At the end of Falmouth Week 2019 we will again be hosting the week’s prize giving for all classes. The next day we play host to the Feeder Race from Fowey to Falmouth with Falmouth and Fowey boats racing back the following day to compete in Fowey Week.
The Club’s success has led to our clubhouse no longer being fit for purpose, consequently, the Committee has been involved during the last two years with plans to rebuild the clubhouse. Planning consent has now been granted and the Committee are looking at how the new building can be funded.
We would like to thank all those who advertise in our handbook, sponsor the racing marks, and our Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon series.
My thanks to all our volunteers and helpers who work so hard to make our club so successful, friendly and welcoming.
