Racing at Flushing

We are primarily a racing club, racing a variety of keelboats, some multihulls, and traditional gaff-rigged boats. At present there are eight racing classes. Racing takes place on Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon. There is also a short joint series with RCYC which on a Friday evening, their normal racing evening. From time to time additional special races take place.

If you are a Racing Skipper you should complete the Race Entry part of the Membership and Entry Form and pay the appropriate fee.

If you do not wish to join the Club, you may still race with us, but please complete the non-member Race Entry Form

Race Entry Form

You are required to:

  1. Sign the Declaration and enter the name(s) of your RYA Affiliated club(s). FSC is an RYA Affiliated Club, but you do not need to be an FSC member to enter.
  2. Enclose your racing certificate(s} as applicable.
  3. If sailing with children, complete the Under-18 Parental Consent Form.
  4. Pay the required fee by bank transfer using your full name as reference, Santander: sort code 30 98 97: account 32308063 or enclose a cheque payable to Flushing Sailing Club to arrive at least 48 hrs before racing.
  5. Send your Entry to: Hon. Treasurer FSC, 12 Wellington Terrace, Falmouth, TR11 3BN. Enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope if you would like confirmation of your entry. Or scan and it.

If you are already a Racing Skipper, your membership covers all races at FSC. If you are not a Racing Skipper, or even a Club member, you can still race, but you pay £10 per race. You may enter specific series, or races, at this nominal amount.

Club Development Fund Donation (We are raising money for our Club pontoon project.) discretionary
Charity Race Donation (qualifies racing skippers entry to the Charity Race Prize) discretionary
  • Charity Race: how much you contribute is at your own discretion. The suggested minimum is £10 but all and any contributions are accepted. All the proceeds from the race go to the designated charity (currently the RNLI).
  • If you wish to contribute to the Club's Development Fund which is currently raising money for the pontoon project, all contributions will be gratefully received.

Whether you are a member or not, whether you race or not, you will still be welcome back to the quay on a Tuesday evening for one of our excellent hot suppers washed down with a pint or two of Treen's Sunbeam, on a Friday evening for supper and more Treen's, or on a Saturday for tea and cake (go on, have a Treen's too).

Pursuit series

The Pursuit Series have their own start times which are published a few weeks (days? hours?) before the series begins.

Other Races

Don't forget the other racing that is available in the Port, like Falmouth Sailing Week and all the Village Regattas.

Racing at other PoFSA clubs

FSC is a member of the Port of Falmouth Sailing Association, PoFSA. As a member of Flushing Sailing Club you are entitled to race at any of the other PoFSA clubs, namely: Mylor Yacht Club, the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club, the Helford River Sailing Club, St Mawes Sailing Club and Restronguet Sailing Club. You may be required to pay an entry fee, but you do not have to join. More about PoFSA.
