FSC Club House

The Trustees and Management Committee of Flushing Sailing Club CIO are pleased to announce that the new clubhouse is up and running. The building was completed in May 2021 and we have been able to test it out during a very busy sailing season.

The clubhouse is available for functions and we now have Booking Forms and Terms and Conditions to cover this.

Versatile interior layout

Lightweight tables and chairs can be stacked and stowed to make a clear open space or configured to seat approximately 60 people.

The interior is airy with ventilation, heating and cooling provided by air conditioning units operated via remote controls.

Folding doors give access on to the quay and windows can be opened to offer further air circulation.

Catering standard kitchen

The stainless steel kitchen is equipped with: dishwasher, oven, hob, deep-fat fryer, microwave, 2 fridges, freezer, crockery and cutlery for 60 covers.

AV system

The Audio visual system is controlled via a Sonos app, with ceiling mounted speakers.

The Clubhouse has high speed broadband and wifi connectivity.

Breakout meeting area

Ideal as a breakout meeting room, the mezzanine Race Office has fantastic views of the harbour and is well sound proofed from the remainder of the building.

race office

A well-stocked bar offers a range of wines, beers and spirits as well as non-alcoholic beverages and soft drinks.

Note that the terms off the Licence require that a Committee member be present whenever alcohol is to be sold on the premises.

Hirers will need to negotiate this with a Committee member prior to booking.

Disabled access

Access to the main entrance of the Clubhouse is by a ramp and hand rails.

There is a fully equipped disabled toilet and shower.

The Quay

Folding doors give access to further seating for approximately 30 people on picnic benches on the Quay.

Users are reminded that this is an unprotected Quay and that they should be aware of the drop especially at low water.

Children should be supervised at all times.

Hiring the Clubhouse:

The Clubhouse will (almost) never be available for hire on a Tuesday evening, since it is required by members either as part of regular sailing, or through the winter for talks.

Similarly, Friday evenings are not available; in the winter they are social evenings at the club, with food provided by our caterer, and in the sailing season we welcome sailors in the RCYC race series.

Through the sailing season, Saturday afternoons and early evenings are not available since the Clubhouse is required to support racing, and volunteers provide tea and cake. The exception to this may be when there are Village Regattas, since on those days there is no racing from Flushing (except for the Flushing Village Regatta of course).

The Clubhouse does close for a few weeks at Christmas, and there may be a short window of opportunity then.
