Membership

Membership of Flushing Sailing Club is open to anyone interested in the sport of sailing.

Boat ownership is not a requirement of membership.

The membership subscription is modest, and can be even more modest if you take advantage of the early-bird renewal, which attracts a reduction of £10 on all categories of membership.

The membership year runs from January 1st, but even if you haven’t renewed (despite the many reminders you will have been sent) you may still vote at the AGM held at the end of March.

If you choose to join late in the year (after October) your membership runs until the end of the following year (15 months for the price of 12! what a bargain), but you will have missed a whole summer of glorious sailing.

2021 rates

Category Full rate Reduced rate
Single (adults over 18) £85 £75
Family (including all children aged 25 years or younger) £95 £85
Pensioner (70 and over) £65 £55
Pensioner family (both 70 and over) £75 £65
Outport (Single adult over 18) £65 £55
Outport family (including all children aged 25 or younger) £75 £65

Any member renewing their membership before February 1st is entitled to a reduced rate as listed above.

Most of the categories are self explanatory. Families are “one or two co-habiting adults living at the same address and any children of their immediate family who are 25 years old or less”. An Outport member is “a person domiciled beyond the county boundaries” (‘beyond the Tamar’).

We also have up to four Honorary Life members. Election to Life membership is a mark of esteeem and is limited to members who have distinguished themselves through services to sailing or by long and meritorious service to the Club.

Any member of the RYA, or a member of any club affiliated to the RYA is an Associate member and is welcome to use the Club's facilities.

Once you have joined you will receive a membership pack which includes the SI booklet, the fixtures card, and if there are any left, tide tables. You will also receive our monthly newsletter (sent by email).
