Fifty-two yachts entered for the 2016 Loe Beach Regatta and 20 of those were associated with and members of Flushing Sailing Club! The wind was forecast to be very light Northerly but thankfully was a decent Southerly 10 kts.
Atalanta, Stuart Higgins won the A class IRC rated yachts and Minx Charles Choak came 5th. Nine B class-working boats raced with Stella, Ian Jenkins taking 1st place. Rita, John Peters in 2nd place some 3 minutes later. Hawk, Chris Bell had a sail over in E class.
Seven G class gaffers sailed with Clementine, Alan Perham taking first place on handicap beating Tom Tit, David Carne into 2nd. The first 4 out of 5 yachts in Q class IRC were all FSC stalwarts. Trifle, Chris Jelliss won by 3 seconds over Wilkie, Bob Chapple and Kaimana, Nigel and Jess Rowe. Quicksilver, Jerry Windebank won the Z class.
It was a superb afternoon sail and thanks to the committee boat and shore side volunteers for making it all possible. Flushing Sailing Club Yachts took many of the top places and are to be congratulated on their success.
